Clove and Rice Toner

Ingredients:

~ 2 tsp Whole Cloves (adjust based on bottle size)
~ ½ cup Raw Rice (white or brown)
~ 2 cups Water (for the infusion)

Instructions:

~ Place the raw rice in a bowl. Thoroughly rinse the rice under running water once or twice to remove any surface dust or debris. Drain.
~ In a clean saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, the whole cloves, and 2 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
~ Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer gently for 15 to 20 minutes. The water should become pale amber.
~ Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool completely to room temperature before transferring to a plastic or non-tempered glass bottle.
~Slowly pour the cooled liquid into the bottle. Cap the bottle tightly and place it immediately in the refrigerator.
Clove Toner
Ingredients:
~ 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup cloves (adjust based on the potency you desire and the size of your final bottle).
~ 2 cups water

Instructions:

~ Add the whole cloves and the water to a clean, small saucepan.
~ Place the saucepan on the stovetop over medium heat.
~ Bring the mixture to a point just before boiling (a light, consistent simmer). Reduce the heat to low. Covering the pot with a lid will help keep the volatile oils (like eugenol) from evaporating. Simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. The water will take on a rich amber color.
~ Turn off the heat. Keep the lid on the pot and allow the cloves to steep in the cooling water for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour. This further increases the potency of the infusion.
~ Place a fine-mesh sieve over a bowl, Pour the cooled mixture into the sieve, effectively straining out the cloves. Use a spoon to gently press on the cloves to extract any remaining liquid.
~ Allow the strained clove liquid (now your toner) to cool down completely to room temperature.
~ Use a clean funnel to transfer the cooled clove toner into your sterilized glass spray bottle.
~ Place the bottle immediately in the refrigerator.
Flaxseed Gel/Toner
This formula creates Flaxseed Gel

Ingredients:

~ ¼ cup Whole Flaxseeds (brown or golden)
~ 2 cups Distilled Water

Instructions:

~ Add the flaxseeds and 2 cups of water to a clean saucepan.
~ Bring the mixture to a boil on medium heat. It is vital to stir constantly and gently once it starts boiling to prevent the seeds from sticking to the bottom or boiling over.
~ You will see a foam form, and the seeds will start to float as the water thickens. This usually takes 5 to 10 minutes. Turn off the heat when the liquid reaches a thin gel consistency (like egg whites). Do not wait until it is too thick, or it will be impossible to strain.
~ You must strain the seeds while the gel is hot. The gel will set quickly as it cools, trapping the seeds.
~ Place a fine-mesh metal sieve over a bowl or large measuring cup.
~ Once the gel is completely cool, use a funnel to transfer it into your spray bottle.
~ Store immediately in the refrigerator. Use within 1 week.
Caution: Perishable Product: Because this is a water-based product with no chemical preservatives, it will spoil. You must store it in the refrigerator. It typically lasts for 1 to 2 weeks. Discard it immediately if it smells sour, becomes cloudy, or develops mold.
Patch Test: Before using this toner on your face or scalp, apply a small amount to the inside of your wrist and wait 24 hours to ensure you do not have an adverse reaction.
